KANSAS CITY, MO – Tanner’s Bar & Grill will soon take over the spot in Red Bridge Shopping Center where Blue Moose operated. Both restaurants are managed by KC Hopps, the leaseholder for the space.
Blue Moose opened a little over three years ago, but shut its doors last month. When Tanner’s moves in, there will be live music, karaoke nights, a game room with pool tables, dart boards and arcade games (including pinball and Golden Tee), and more than 50 HD TVs. The adult game room will have its own bar, while a kids’ game area will be available in the dining room.
“We are excited for this change in concept,” said Ed Nelson, president of KC Hopps, in a statement. “We believe it is a better fit for the center.”
Renovations to the space will include expanding the patio to the south under the existing pergola for more outdoor seating, increasing the size of the bar, and joining the bar area with a new stage area. There will be several spaces for parties and group dining, including a semi-private den.
Known for its sports-bar atmosphere and its “chicken lips” (grilled or fried chicken tenders that come with a variety of sauces), Tanner’s offers sandwiches, burgers, wings, tacos, steaks and daily specials. A Monday-Friday happy hour will be held from 3-6 p.m.
Brandon Buckley, vice president of Lane4 Property Group which owns the Red Bridge Shopping Center, said remodeling is underway and Tanner’s would be putting a substantial amount of work into the former Blue Moose space.
“We’re really looking forward to having Tanner’s,” he said. “The concept falls right in line with the friendly, energetic and fun atmosphere we strive for at the center.”
The original Tanner’s opened in 1985 in Lenexa, and the Red Bridge Tanner’s will join eight other locations in the metro area, plus several in Nebraska and Wisconsin.
