Kansas City, Mo. – When Blue Bicycle Health & Fitness closed during the stay-at-home orders earlier this spring, owner Jan Schmidt, did something pretty amazing. Schmidt invited all her members to load up whatever equipment they wanted to take and use at home. She wanted to find a way to keep her members healthy and continue to support them so that when the pandemic ends they will continue to support her.
‘It was just basically sitting here,” Schmidt said. “The club was empty and dark.”
She said more than 30 members took her up on her offer and took equipment home such as spin bikes, free weights, and treadmills. Many of those members still have not returned to the gym, but it’s been a way to keep those small business steps moving forward.
“Anytime you can maintain that connection, it helps. It definitely helps,” Schmidt said.
