Christian Science Reading Room
The Reading Room is a center for those inquiring about Christian Science, or who simply want a quiet place to read, study, and pray. Christian Science Reading Room is both a reading room and a church. Christian Science is a religion based on the discoveries of Mary Baker Eddy in the 19th Century, seeking to reestablish early Christianity as taught by Christ Jesus, with its lost element of healing. Its text book is Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures, a spiritual interpretation of the Bible.
Our church services are Sundays at 9:30 a.m. 7:p.m. on Wednesdays. The Sunday service consists of hymns, prayer, and the reading of the weekly Bible Lesson. The Wednesday evening service consists of hymns, prayer, readings on timely issues from the Bible and Christian Science textbook, and testimonies of healing from the congregation.
The Reading Room sells literature authorized by The Christian Science Publishing Society. It offers numerous Bibles and reference books, a weekly Bible Lesson, inspiring musical CDs, pamphlets, children’s literature, and periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor. A computer is available for listening to and watching on-line chats and lectures as well as reading articles and bible lessons.
Our Reading Room and church services are open to the public. Spanish items are available. The church and Reading Room are completely staffed and operated by volunteers.
